INTERIOR WATERPROOFING SYSTEM Often the most effective method of basement waterproofing will be to install an interior drainage system along the perimeter of your basement beneath the sub-floor, running beside the foundation footings. These are known as French Drains. The French Drain method is designed to completely prevent any seepage that may come up through the floor and to capture any that may penetrate the foundation. Water captured and diverted is then removed from your basement using a Sump Pump. The Sump Pump system will push the water through a discharge pipe that leaves your house. This approach is designed to be the least intrusive and disruptive to the foundation of your home and to the surrounding terrain and existing landscaping.
EXTERIOR WATERPROOFING SYSTEM An alternative method of basement waterproofing is to install an exterior waterproofing system along your home's foundation footings. This waterproofing approach is sometimes more suitable and will depend upon your home's foundation construction, basement condition and other factors which we will discuss with you at the time of your basement's evaluation. This method of waterproofing does not use a sump pump.
ONCE MY BASEMENT IS WATERPROOFED DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING ELSE? Once a suitable waterproofing solution has been implemented in your basement, you will want to make sure that your area stays dry. Any part of your home that is underground will continue to be affected by high levels of humidity as the moisture in the soil which surrounds the foundation of your home is drawn into the home by means of absorption through the concrete walls and floors. This moisture needs to be pulled from the air, the walls and the floor by means of a dehumidification system. With this final step, your home should be fully clear of the conditions that cause musty odors, mold and mildew, dampness and other humidity-related conditions that can be damaging to your home, your health and your personal property. |
